Ted Santarella Fund
As a MEMBER of the Massey Cancer Center Advisory Board…
I am thrilled to announce the beginning of what I hope to be an excellent partnership between RVA Hospitality and the VCU Massey Cancer Center.
The Ted Santarella Fund for Prostate Cancer at Massey Cancer Center campaign has been established to raise funds for cancer research. As many of you know, I lost my husband to prostate cancer after his monthly Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings lead doctors to believe he was cancer free. The current PSA screening does not detect all cancers and in fact, about 20% of men who have cancer also have a normal PSA. So the test may give some men and their families a false sense of security. For this reason, I am dedicating myself and our restaurants to improve screening for prostate cancer and to find a cure for this scourge of our society.
The Ted Santarella Fund for Prostate Cancer asks that you donate or pledge funds on what you deem reasonable. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to begin research with a local scientist. I am asking you to join me in this effort by finding a way to share your support of Massey Cancer Center with your friends, family and colleagues. Here are a few ideas:
•Share your participation in the Ted Santarella Fund for Prostate Cancer campaign on Facebook and Twitter to boost our signal and raise awareness.
•Simply make a one time donation on our Team Massey Page –
Make Sure you click “Search” → “Massey Cancer Center” → "Ted Santarella” and it will pop up like the photo above.
•Set up regular events where you raise money for cancer research.
•Join us at our wine dinners to benefit and learn more about current cancer research.
Please join me in pledging your help in raising awareness and funds for the Ted Santarella Fund for Prostate Cancer campaign. Together we will make a difference!
